How to take a bath after liposuction?

After liposuction, certain indications must be followed in order to have a good recovery, including indications on how to bathe, since it is important to take care of the wounds until they heal. 

Although your plastic surgeon will give you the pertinent indications, it is always good to get informed beforehand in order to have everything arranged before going home to start the post-liposuction process. 

The first advice is to wait 48 hours before showering after liposuction.

It is completely understandable to want to take a shower immediately after leaving the clinic, however, there is safer to wait 48 hours after liposuction to take a shower, because early showering could reopen wounds. 

Just as a matter of precaution, keep an attendant with you for your first post-liposuction bath. 

This is because when the compression garment is removed for bathing, blood flow suffers changes that may cause dizziness or fainting, in the worst case scenario. That is why it is recommended to have a companion during the first bath after liposuction, so that he/she can help before any inconvenience. 

Wash your wounds very carefully with lukewarm water.

Before washing your wounds, first wash your hands well and then gently clean the wounds with warm water and the soap recommended by your surgeon. Be careful not to rub directly on the cut, as mishandling can open the incision. Then dry the area with light patting using sterile gauze.
