Aesthetic surgery

Which patients are not eligible for plastic surgery?

Many people dream of having some aesthetic change, such as having a smaller nose, having a flatter belly, having bigger buttocks, etc. There are several types of aesthetic surgeries specialized in achieving the desired results, however, it is necessary to explain that not everyone is a potential candidate. How do you know if you belong to this group of ineligible people? We tell you everything here.

People with heart conditions may not be suitable for cosmetic surgery.

It may happen that we have a heart condition and we still do not know it, that is why before undergoing a cosmetic surgery, it is necessary to be examined by a cardiologist, who will determine if the patient has any heart condition because if so, the patient may not be suitable for any type of intervention.

It is also necessary to know if the patient suffers from any allergies.

During a aesthetic surgery, some necessary medications are applied and to avoid any complication that may worsen in a cardiac arrest, tests are also performed to rule out any type of allergy, so the plastic surgeon will know which technique to use.

It is not advisable to have an aesthetic surgery immediately after pregnancy.

There are many women who, after pregnancy, want to quickly return to their pre-pregnancy body shape and decide to undergo liposuction or abdominoplasty. You should know that it is not advisable to undergo surgery until at least 6 months after giving birth.

Be careful, as in any type of plastic or aesthetic surgery, first an evaluation is made to know if the patient is already in a good condition for any type of intervention.

People with obesity are not eligible for aesthetic surgery.

Before undergoing any surgical intervention, it is advisable to lose some weight, because a person with obesity could have complications at the time of surgery, as they are more likely to develop diabetes, circulatory diseases, heart disease, among other conditions. It is advisable to have a BMI lower than 35.

If you suffer from any disease, you may not be a good candidate

In the visit to your plastic surgeon, you must inform if you suffer from any disease such as diabetes, hypertension, heart condition, rheumatoid arthritis, among others, which must be previously evaluated.

It should also mention if you have undergone an organ transplant or if you are immunosuppressed. All of the above mentioned is information that must be said so that the specialist can tell you if you are eligible or not.
